Upload Audio to Your Anchor Podcast from Your Mobile Phone

hello hello hello and welcome to another
livestream with your girl Ms Ileane and today we are going to talk about
apps but we’re gonna start off talking about podcasting at anchor anchor anchor
anchor oh my goodness you know it’s amazing that we as podcasters have so
many choices now for where we’re going to produce our podcast or where we’re
going to publish our podcasts how we’re going to produce our podcast we have so
many apps we have so much gear we have so many tools at our disposal so we are
a lucky bunch I was listening to my friends Rob Greenlee and Todd Cochran over at
the new media show talking about how they used to hand code their RSS feeds
oh my gosh can you just imagine we don’t have to worry about we don’t even have
to know what the RSS feed looks like and probably if we saw it we would scream so
we’re in a great place and the service that continues to innovate in the space
and you know they’re all innovating they’re all innovating because like I
said there’s a lot of competition right now for your podcasting content and for
your podcast listening so there’s a new app every day uh-huh so let’s talk about
anchor because you guys have been coming to this channel here on YouTube looking
for anchor tutorials and so I want to be here for you now anchor is currently a
free podcast host and before I even get into any tutorial
I have to say to you be sure that you want to use a free podcast host I’ve
done videos I did a video two weeks ago talking about when your show
grows beyond that free podcast host but so I’m not gonna belabor the point I
just want to let you know go back and look at some of the videos where I’ve
done the pros and cons of using anchor and what happens when your show goes
beyond free so with all that said those of us who want to have a second show a
third show or maybe we’re just we’re so paranoid by the tech and the
thought of having a podcast that we’re like we don’t care if it’s free we don’t care if
they own the content we just anchor give it to me cuz you could do it from your
phone so the latest iteration or the latest update that’s come with anchor
3.0 is the ability for us to import audio on our mobile device now why is it
so important I’ve met a lot of podcasters in the past eight nine years
that I’ve been podcasting and there’s always people who want their workflow to
be totally mobile now that could be just because they’re on the go all the time
or it could be because they just don’t have a computer they want to do all of
their podcasts producing from their phone so they may have an intro intro
music or outro music or background music that’s only on their phone and prior to
this latest update they were not able to bring that content in to their podcast
and you know as a podcaster you know you want to have your bumpers right your
intros and outros you gotta have them okay so this is going to make life so much easier for those folks and for others who like I said just basically up just like to use
their mobile device and maybe the microphone that they have or maybe they
don’t have a desktop microphone like I right now I’m on the ATR 2100 and I have
the at2020 and you know there’s a plethora of microphones that we all
could have but how cool is it that you can just use your ear buds or not even
use your ear buds and hi a diamond mom hello hello and you don’t even have to
have ear buds because the audio pick up especially on an iPhone and some of a
higher quality Android devices is such that you don’t have to sit at your
desktop you could just be out and about so if you’re out maybe you’re at a
conference and you want to just put out a show cuz this stuff and you want to be
the first one to get this breaking news right so now that I’ve gone through some
of the reasons why you would want to do this mobile upload let’s get to the
screen share let’s hope all systems are go over here on the screen sharing end and for those of you who are curious I
use QuickTime on my iMac to do this alright so let’s open up anchor and looks like I need to move my phone
little closer to me alright so we’re going to go to the purple folder let me
back up because I did that so fast you’re on the screen where you can
record when you hit the microphone that’s in the middle you’ll be on the
screen where you can record and I guess it doesn’t realize that I’m finished
with that episode so let’s get out of this episode right there’s where all my
voice messages are and I just added that voice message to my episode and that’s
why it wants me to go back to that but I don’t want to go back to that anchor
well these are the transitions you still have your anchor transitions when you
want to go from one segment to a next these are good to have some of them are
really short a couple of seconds just to you know transition from one scene to
the next so let’s just go ahead and click on that purple folder because
that’s what we really want so we want this purple folder because this is your
library my friend Fraser Ramsey’s speaking of podcasting the podcaster
from a ramsey unleashed podcast it’s over here one crowdcast
because this is where I have set up this recording so just one moment Fraser and
I’m going to bring you one okay so in order to import you see the import
option right there at the top right it’s going to ask for locations let me back
up so you can see the different locations you can import from your
Dropbox your Google Drive and if you were using the iCloud I don’t use iCloud
but I know most I phone users do then you would see that option there as well
so I’m just going to go back into Dropbox and I just so happened
to have some audio files there and you see the ones that are grayed out their
videos or some other still images so of course you can’t use those but these
audio files that I recorded in another app and actually some of these audio we
see here one that says does and float that is actually some royalty-free music
that I got and I believe I got that from YouTube and then I just uploaded it to
my phone and now I’m going to upload that into Ankur
so let’s just pretend that was an audio file with me having doing an episode of
the podcast and in that case it was just some background music but you know
sometimes you may just have a couple of seconds of background music or like I
said earlier your intro bumper or your outro prompt bumper and that’s how you
import your audio from your phone into Ankur so now if I was going to add this
to an episode then I could add it if I wanted to add it to that current episode
the one that I was talking about my Apple mistake if you want to find out
about that head over to Eileen dot link slash Apple mistake that was a great
episode I’m getting feedback on that already and so I’m not gonna add it to
that so what I want to do is click on the COG wheel and this cog wheel will
let me choose any episode even ones that I have an anchor only see that’s one of
the beautiful things about anchor remember I was talking about the
competition that’s out there right and most
podcasting hosts will host your files but they expect you to make a podcast
out of them that’s going to go into iTunes but anchor has a built in
community of listeners that are already on the platform
and when you post your episodes you have the option that you could just share
them within the Apple community the anchor I’m sorry the anchor community I
have a couple here that I have not published outside the ones that just
have the dates that’s because I did not publish them or I published them on
anchor only so I’m just going to say I’ll do a new episode just so you guys
can see and I’ll just type in a test title and then add that and then I’ll
just go ahead and make it a test and testing ok now I don’t want to publish
that everywhere remember I just described that to you so I turn it off
oh I’m sorry I just turned it on and I also get the option to share it on
Twitter or Facebook and I’m just gonna say not yet because I don’t want to
accidentally publish that not even on anchor only because it’s only music okay
so that is the run-through of this latest update of how you would import
audio from your phone into an episode
