The Buggles – Video Killed The Radio Star HD (Live 2004)

I heard you on the wireless back in fifty two. Lying awake intent at tuning in on you. If I was young it didn’t stop you coming through. Oh a oh. They took the credit for your second symphony. Rewritten by machine with new technology. And now I understand the problems you can
see. Oh a oh. I met your children. Oh a oh. What did you tell them? Video killed the radio star. Video killed the radio star. Pictures came and broke your heart. Oh, a, a, a, oh. And now we meet in an abandoned studio. We hear the playback and it seems so long
ago. And you remember the jingles used to go. Oh-a oh. You were the first one. Oh-a oh. Too bad the last one. Video killed the radio star. Video killed the radio star. In my mind and in my car. We can’t rewind we’ve gone to far. Oh-a-aho oh Oh-a-aho oh Video killed the radio star. Video killed the radio star. In my mind and in my car. We can’t rewind we’ve gone too far. Pictures came and broke your heart. Put the blame on VCR. You are a radio star. You are a radio star. You are a radio star. You are a radio star. Video killed the radio star. Video killed the radio star. Video killed the radio star. Video killed the radio star. Well, that was the first time we’ve played
those songs in front of people since we’ve played them in the studio 25 years ago. My Buggles partner Geoffrey Downs. Early Buggle Bruce Woolley. The 3 of us wrote the song. Linda Allan and Debi Doss who also sang on
the record. And Paul Robinson played the drums on the
record.

  3. Bruce Woolley, eh? I remember getting the Bruce Woolley and the Camera Club album, English Garden, in 1980, it also featured Thomas Dolby and Mathew Seligman!

  4. And … the radio star killed the living room piano player, church orchestra, and big band music. Trust me I'm not that old but sad that the main instrument most people want to play now is the guitar but I really respect a bass player that can lead a song and band.

  5. I've always thought there was something very noble and sad in this song, a lament of the passage of time and the decline of "obsolete" art forms.

  6. It would have been better if the crowd were jumping swinging their arms but anyways the best fucking performance I’ve ever seen

  7. This was so cool.. I showed this original video to my 22 year old once, she laughed and then admitted it was a good song.

  8. I could talk about this and mr horn until the cows come home…..but for now I'll say…..FUCKING EPIC !! I'd love to spend a month in a studio with him….you may say a month's a tad greedy but it would only be frustrating to go for any less time….so much to learn…so many possibilities..

  9. August 1, 1981.. the first song ever played on MTV…. Hey kids, rock and roll.. ROCK ON! (yes that is a different song!)
