Hello friends, this is Gökberk, the founder of Turkishaholic. How have you been? Hello everyone, and I’m Tülün. I hope you liked our first episode. Welcome back to Turkishaholic’s Speaking Podcast! On our Podcast’s 2nd episode, we will continue with the “Daily Conversations” dialogues that we did on our first episode. In today’s topic, we will do asking questions and giving answers between friends. We will learn about the questions you can ask and the answers you can give when you’re talking with someone you met for the first time and with close friends. In total we have 3 connected dialogues. Let me remind you that you can download all these dialogues as a PDF file and study the grammar used here from the Turkishaholic’s Grammar Bank section! If you’re ready, let’s start! Example Dialogue 1 Kemal can I ask you something? Of course, Aslı, what is it? Which department do you work at? I work at Accounting. I take care of the company’s money business. Ok, do you know Can from Accounting? Are you talking about Can Alkan from Accounting? Yes, Can Alkan! Can you tell “Aslı is asking for you” to him? Ok I’ll tell him. Where do you know Can from? Is he your friend? Yes, Can is my friend from university! Example Dialogue 2 Hello Can! How have you been since we last met? Did you remember me? Shame on you Aslı, how could I forget my best friend? I’m good, how are you? I’m better now that I saw you! It’s been 5 year since we last met, right? Yes, we graduated university 5 years ago. We couldn’t meet later. What did you do after you finished school? Why didn’t you let me know? After finishing school, I decided to travel the World. I traveled the World for 2 years. Really? How nice! I wish I could travel like you. Actually, it’s not that hard to travel the World. You don’t have to be rich. Is that so? Why don’t you tell me where you travelled? I’m really curious! Example Dialogue 3 What are you eating Aslı? I think you should try this, I liked it. Ok, sure. What will you eat? I could eat the same thing. So, how about you tell me how you travelled the World? It’s actually a lot easier than you think. I got by with only 5000 dollars. 5000 dollars? How did you pay for food and beverage and the hotel fees? I didn’t stay at a hotel! I lived at people’s houses living there for free! Free? What about food? What did you eat? Weren’t you out of money? I ate at those people’s houses and I worked part-time at each country. That’s really fascinating! I definitely want to try it too!
