Jocko Motivation “IF” (From Jocko Willink Podcast)

If you can keep your head; when all about you, are losing theirs and blaming it on you. If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you. But make allowance for their doubting, too. If you can wait and not be tired by waiting or being lied about don’t deal in lies or being hated. Don’t give way to hating. And yet don’t look too good nor talk too wise. If you can dream and not make dreams your master. If you can think and not make thoughts your aim. If you can meet triumph and disaster and treat those two Impostors just the same. If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken. Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools or watch the things you gave your life to broken. And stoop and build them up with worn-out tools. If you can make one heap of all your winnings and risking on one turn of pitch-and-toss and lose and start again at your beginnings and never breathe a word about your loss. If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew to serve your turn long after they are gone. And so hold on when there is nothing in you; except the will which says to them. Hold on! If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue. Or walk with Kings nor lose the common touch. If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you. With all man count with you but none too much. If you can feel the unforgiving minute is 60 seconds worth of distance run. Wars is the earth and everything that is in it. And which is more. You’ll be a man my son. There’s all kinds of different ways to break. You can break physically you can break mentally you can break your heart. You can break your spirit and none of those are fun and all of those are gonna leave a mark. But the mark that they leave. Can be the mark of victory or it can be the mark of defeat. Because every time you break and in every way that you break. Well it’s a chance. It’s definitely a chance for you to give up and for you to just to fall apart. But there’s also opportunity. There’s opportunity to get stronger and get smarter and get faster and get tougher and get more stable and get more resilient and get better. When you break. You have the opportunity to show the world, the whole world. What you are really made of. So, so if you break if if you break The fight isn’t over. In fact if you break the fight is just beginning. And as you crawl up and out of that dismal and wretched place. Covered and you’re covered in blood and sweat and dirt and filth as you rise above what you were. And as you take the form of; of who you’re supposed to be. You will see that; In the very act of standing up in the very act of fighting on you will become and you will remain. Unbroken.

“Don’t give up. Don’t give in. There’s always an answer to everything.”

He’s obviously the epitome of UNBROKEN so give credit where credit is due……

GUARANTEE Jocko would want u too!!

  2. If you can do this, if you can do that. Blah blah blah. Actions. Speaks. Louder. Motivational videos are that, just videos.

  3. Kipling wrote this for his 11 year old son – how awesome is that… I hope he grew into the man that this poem motivate him to.

  4. Thanks Jocko. "If" hung on the wall when I was a kid and the first line of it has got me thru a lot of tough situations in life. Great delivery and good job Echo. Thanks for the podcast and everything you have and continue to do.

  5. Been off the path for two weeks, I fuckin needed this. About to hit those weights and get some, thanks God Emperor Jocko!

  6. Jocko you are full of Shit. It's all about being a good person first. I don't believe you ever lived one moment in poverty. People you show are a galaxy away from you. A community organizer. Like your former commander and chief.

  7. *me motivating myself on day 3 of No Nut November *
“If you break, the fight isn’t over… it’s just the beginning “

  8. "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." – corinthians 10:13

  9. Jocko is a clown , he ain't ever had a proper fight cause he still thinks jiu jitsu is useful in a fight, some thing a gaycie told him while lying on top of Jocko teaching Jocko Brazilian jiu jitsu,

  10. Jocko is such a prolific figure… He's been added to my "what would blank do?" list. I'm listening to this before I train on my bike for a couple hours, while I feel like stopping, when I hit the wall, and just before the session is over.

  11. This guys awesome, there's a TRUE SHORTAGE of people telling you how it is. Much love sent from S.w. florida. Stay strong

  12. No one probably going to see this, but i gotta let some pressure off. 4k$ in debt at 20y/o. Can't see my friends, or my family. Neither can I enjoy life for one second because im too broke. Dropped outta school to pay my debt, so you can basically say my future is nearly set in stone. I don't know where to hold on anymore. The only thing i got to eat here is protein powder and Oatmeal, and after that i don't know what I am going to eat, and I cry every single day, every morning. My family doesn't have an idea about my situation, nor my friends. I was always looked at by my peers as the smart guy, the powerful guy, the good guy. I had everything to have success and I fucked everything up. If only I had a second chance. Please I need a second chance, I promise i've learned. But please, someone, I need a second chance, I won't waste it.

  13. I wish Jocko would do more speaking on American university campuses. The little snowflake, beta male, socialists could really use a dose of what he's dishing out.

  14. Gassed out and got smashed in BJJ class today. Good! Motivation to come back and try even harder the next day.

  15. Just Jocko… You gotta give it to him, wether he's reading his own texts or others' works, he's a tremendous narrator….

  16. I nicked the audio from this and listened to it for months during 3:30am lift sessions at UFC after I was laid off and my beloved pet died (two blows, a week apart). Like Goggins has said, "It's so easy to be great nowadays because so many people are weak" and it's ME that is great (according to friends and observers) — just showing up on a daily basis, hitting the gym, going hard at job hunting, holding the line and now I'm employed in my dream job, have a loving wife, we're moving to where we want to be in the world and on and on and on.

I know I did the work but I have to credit Jocko because he gave me a roadmap and a belief I could traverse the distance.
