Spencer: Welcome everybody to the Humber Students Podcast! I’m one of your hosts, Spencer Hay. I’m Jillian Smart. And this is our podcast — for Humber students by Humber students. It’s called the Humber Students Podcast. We’re a biweekly podcast, you gotta come out and listen to it. My name is Spencer Hay. I’m in the Bachelor of Digital Communications program, and I’m the head of the club and one of the hosts. So the Humber Students Podcast is a club here at Lakeshore and it’s pretty much a creative outlet for Humber students to come and contribute and pretty much build this podcast with us so our hope is that you come and whatever skills you want to build or whatever skills you want to learn. We want you to come and provide that. Jillian: My name is Jillian Smart. I’m in the Comedy Writing and Performance program. I think clubs are a really good way to meet people who have similar interests to you. And also just to work on stuff that you like to do because I don’t think you really get that opportunity outside of college to be like: “Hey, all of my friends — let’s meet at this building that we can access for free and pretty easily. And let’s hang out and do stuff together.” I’m Dayna and I’m in Film and Media Production. I’m just a club member. I’m part of the media side of the club. Well I joined something I’m interested in so I have an interest to go and I don’t feel forced to go. And I go whenever I can and I don’t force myself when I have tons of schoolwork. I’m Liam Goggin and I’m in the Comedy program. In the club, I pitch ideas and come up with my own segments when I’m available to record. I do a stand-up segment in the podcast, I go to Yuk-Yuks and record people doing stand-up. I think it’s good to start a club especially in college because you get to meet people that you might not normally meet in your own program. It brings together other people from other programs to collaborate on certain ideas or if you just have an idea that you want to bring to life. It’s always good to have more people to help you put that together.
