How to Find Topics to Write About in Your Blog

How to Find Topics to Write About in Your Blog

Hi, Ivan here from Solocube and in this video we are going to talk about how to find topics to write about in your blog. Now, the first problem that business website owners face is that they don’t know what to write about. So, what ends up happening is that you have a blog with posts from like two years ago and that’s not good for SEO, that’s not good for your customers. Because you don’t want them to go to your website and find posts from years ago, right? So, I want to show you how we can get that content that people are searching for, and we can write topics for those people. Now, if you don’t have a blog for your website, it doesn’t matter what industry you are in, you really need to install a blog, because this creates value for your audience. And when someone goes to your site they see that you have helpful articles within the industry that you are in and it’s also good for SEO. Right? Google loves content, so the more content you put out the better it is in the long run. Also, it’s been proven that businesses that blog frequently get more customers in the end. So, it’s a long term strategy but its definitely a good time invested. So why do we need to put blogs in our website? Because if you think about what everybody does when they go online, they go and research your company, right? So they are going to research your company and they might find your company, not from the Homepage or not from your About Us page, but they might find your company through a question that they put into Google. So, they can put a, you know, long question and if you did your research beforehand you could target that person and solve their problem, right? So by solving their problem, you are adding value to their search. And through content, they are going to find your brand and then they are going to find what you do and what you are all about. So, that there alone is very powerful. So the type of content that we are looking for is to be informational and value-driven. So how do you know what to write about? The first question you need to ask is who do you want to attract? What type of customer do you want to attract? What type of client are you trying to bring into your business, right? So we are going to find proven topics that we know people are searching online and that relate to your business and from there we going to create articles around those topics. The important thing is that you want the right traffic, not just any traffic. Right? Because you are answering questions through information. So, that’s very important to know. You don’t want to attract everybody. You want to attract a certain potential customer that wants to know more about what you do, and topics that relate to that person. So now I am going to show how to find these topics online. Okay, so here I am going to show you how to know what to write about. And it’s going to depend on your market, of course, and what you are offering, what you are selling, I don’t know that, so – you are going to want to know what keywords relate to your business and you are going to go to these sites and we are going to explore content that is being written about, that is getting shares, likes on social media, and that is getting traffic. Right? So, I am going to show you six of them. Six sites where you can get ideas for writing topics. You don’t have to be a magician to get these topics, but you want to find proven topics, right? You don’t have to re-invent the wheel, and we can model it with information that you are finding in the real world, okay? So, one of the ways you can do it is by going to the website called ahrefs.com. This is a paid platform, so you are going to need to have an account for them. But its a very useful tool because in this example you can see I type content marketing, right? And then you can see all these articles, right? – what is content marketing? Six tools to turbo-charge your content marketing 2017. You see here, the social proof, right? One hundred and sixty-two tweets, twenty-five hundred likes on Facebook, and so on. So you can go down the page and see what kinds of articles in your industry are getting the most traction. So, very powerful just with this tool alone. Next, we have Bazumo, and this one is kind of the same, basically. They do let you use it for free at first, but then you are going to need to pay. So for example, here I put chiropractor help. So you can see here on the left the titles of the blog posts and here the traction these blog posts are getting on search, on social media. So, you would go here and you would look at these titles, right? How about, “Headache – seeing a chiropractor might help!” So this article here from March 1st, 2016 has gotten two thousand and two hundred likes, LinkedIn shares, Twitter, and so on. So you can compare and see which one is getting the most traffic. Here, where’s another idea for a chiropractor? Here, “Unexpected places a chiropractor can help.” Again, advanced health and wellness. Another idea for a chiropractor that has a blog that wants to attract traffic, people searching for these kinds of titles. And then you can see here, “Unexpected places a chiropractor can help.” “Chiropractor help” would be the keyword for this. So, that’s pretty good. The next one is Reddit. Not a lot of people have used Reddit, or use Reddit, in business. But there is a lot of information that you can get from, a lot of ideas, that you can get from this platform. Again I typed chiropractor because that’s the example I am doing. These are paid ads here, so those don’t matter. But you just have to keep looking here. “Are chiropractors really legit?” I don’t know about that one. Let’s see, here’s one, “Why do doctor’s always say no to go to a chiropractor?” Two hundred and fifteen points, a hundred and thirteen comments, that’s not bad within two months. So there, that could be a perfect topic that a chiropractor on their blog could write about as to why do doctors always say not to go to a chiropractor. This would be a perfect example, that’s a pretty good title too. So you could change the title a little bit and just make it your own, and then write about that. Right? Moving along, this one is really cool and this one I just learned about. It’s called Answer the Public, and this one is, you put a keyword and in this case I put “Productivity.” I didn’t put chiropractor because I wanted to change it up, and you can see a whole bunch of topics here. I mean, there are so many. I don’t know if you can read this but it says, “How productivity is” – let me just zoom in. There you go. “How productivity is measured.” “How productivity relates to market growth.” “How productivity relates to growth.” I mean there is so many ideas here its like, its mind-boggling. And then you click How, let’s say I click here on the How, which determines these ideas and it went to Google just for the word how so that doesn’t help. But you get the idea there are so many ideas here just for the word productivity. So, I mean, you could put you own keyword related to your business and see what comes up, and then you can get ideas to writing topics for that. If you go down a page you can see more breakdowns of this word, right? You can click on this and then it will search for it in the internet and then it will see how much traffic that’s getting. But, I hear, just with this one, I mean, you get a lot of ideas. Okay? The next one is Feedly. This one is pretty new to me as well, for now. But, just quite testing it, I typed “Dentist,” and it took me to a site, and I looked into that site and it tells you what’s the most popular topics. So, you know, “e-Cigarettes just as harmful as tobacco for oral health, one thousand Feedly likes. So, that’s pretty good right there. You know, that’s one. “Studies show impact of dental benefits on meeting children’s dental needs.” Another one, I mean, there’s so many here. You just have to look on this number here on Feedly to see how much traffic and traction these topics are getting. And the last is one that I really like, I have been using it for a long time. It’s called Flipboard.com. You might have heard of it. It’s basically people start magazines inside of Feedly and they share content in it and there’s a lot of blog posts. For this one I typed just “Weddings,” “Wedding photography.” But you can see the titles, right? “Seven thoughtful ways to give back while wedding planning.” You know, that’s one. I mean, in here you can see one like. This is the likes within the Flipboard platform, okay? This is not likes all over the internet. But still its good to get ideas of what to write about. Some of these are from magazines and some of them are more blog related, right? So, here is “How to resize your engagement ring if it’s too small or too large.” So, it just gives you an idea and you click on it and it takes you to the site where that post is. This one is Brides.com, sometimes it will have information as to how many people have shared. I don’t see it. But anyways, you get the idea. So, you know. You can see how you can quickly analyze what’s popular on the internet regarding your niche market, your service, your product, whatever it is that you do. With all these tools, I mean, do you think you can find some proven topics? I think so. I will put the links below, of all these sites, so you can go to them and get ideas for your blog. So, yeah, remember, consistency is the key, post frequently and I hope you get a lot more blogging on your site. Alright, thanks for watching. Captions by
