OK, so we’ve talked about how to go on the
mic. We’ve talked about how to run the board. We’ve talked about how to use the CD players.
Let’s put it all together and broadcast a little sound. We’re not actually broadcasting,
but if we were, it would look like this. So, say I got my, I’ve selected my input as CD
two, I’m playing CD two. There we go, we got some music going, woohoo. Now, suppose I want
to find out, I want to find a track on CD three without broadcasting it. Close my door.
CD three, I’m going to use my Cue function on the board. Use the Cue function. I’m going
to turn my monitors down. Monitors play what’s going over the air. I’m going to turn my cue
speaker up. Look for a track on CD three that I like. Now that’s coming out of different,
this music’s coming out of a different speaker that’s not being broadcasted. You folks at
home you can’t hear that. No, that’s not it. I rotate the knob again, play it. Yes, that’s
it. I use the Cue function on this CD player to bring me to the beginning of that song.
OK? Turn that Cue function off. Turn this channel on. And the fade, going to fade that
CD out. Hit play on this CD. Turn it up. And you’re playing. And now I get my mic pretty
much where I want it. And you can talk over a little bit. You can talk over the music
that you’re playing if you’re really clever. Now what you got to watch out for is not to
have your music overwhelm you. And also you’ve just got to keep watching your levels all
the time, so that you don’t overwhelm the system like that. Because that would be bad.
And people won’t know what you’re saying. So don’t do that. So again, always turn your
mic off when you’re done. Turn it off so you don’t have any mayhem. Turn your music back
up. OK, now you want to find the next track on, you want to find the next track on CD
two, that you want to hear. Again, use your Cue function. There we go, Cue function. Is
that it? Nope. Try it again. That’s the one. Use the Cue function on the CD player, cue
it up. Turn this channel on. And you can see I’ve let my levels get away with me, so I’m
going to fade them down. And I’m going to fade them down all the way and start playing
off of CD two. And again, always watch your levels. Songs will start quiet and then they’ll
max out later on. Especially your power ballads. Watch out for the power ballads. And that’s
your basic how to do it.
