Episode 165: Podcasting 101: Here’s How to Begin — Part 1

– Hi, I’m Tiffany, welcome
back to Twice Tips. For the next two weeks, we’ll be sharing everything you need to
know about podcasting. We haven’t tackled this topic before so, I’m excited to bring
not one but two experts. They’ll be sharing everything
from how to get started to how to leverage it for your business. First up, we have Garry Lee,
general manager and founder of The Sphere Podcast Network and Studios. – Thanks Tiff, appreciate
the introduction. What’s up, folks. Let’s talk about getting this podcast together. So, first and foremost, what’s a podcast? A podcast is simply a
digital vehicle that delivers audio and video content
right to your subscriber via their devices, whether
that’s laptop, desktop, or their mobile handsets. And of course, if you’re ready
to get started in podcasting, we got a couple of quick
tips that are just for you. So, let’s talk graphics. We’re gonna talk about the hardware. We’re definitely gonna talk software and last but not least, distribution. So, let’s break this down. Graphics, you got to have that logo. That logo’s gonna showcase how you get your content out to the world. It’s gonna be the first thing people see. Now, if you want to take
it to another level, you want to get your music
and audio introduction ready to rock and roll so it sounds great. And of course for those
into the video side, you’ve got to have your
template right with your images and any media to get that
video introduction out there. Now, moving over to hardware,
it’s all about the microphones You gotta be heard, right?
So, you gotta get that mic. We’re gonna connect it
to a mixer or computer, and once again for the
video folks, we’re gonna get cameras together so we
can capture that content. Now, the software side of
things depends on what you’re using. Windows versus a Macintosh. So, you’ve gotta have
Audacity on the Windows side or you can use Garage
Band, or if you want to go directly to the source, you can do that via Anchor or Spreaker. Now, for those that want to
get the video podcasting going, you want look into OBS or
take it to that pro-level using Wirecast. Last but not least, it’s
about the distribution. Let me tell you folks, it’s
so important to pick the best repository to store all your
data. And, then of course, associate that data to an RSS feed. That’s what’s gonna get that content to all of your subscribers
each and every week. Now, for a quick bonus tip. You’re consistency has to be on point. Whether it’s rain, sleet or shine, apocalypse, it doesn’t matter. Make sure you record that content. But guess what folks, if
you’ve got any other questions for me, feel free to
hit me up, I’m known as @GHawkinz, that’s @GHawkinz with a Z, across all social media platforms. Or hit us up at the Sphere
Podcast Network and Studios. @theSphereTV, you can use any
coveted hashtag surrounding podcasting, and we’ll
definitely get back with you. Last but not least, is our
