Course Videos and Webcasts

All right, um often in your courses you’re going to find videos or webcasts and that information is going to go into that sort of bracketed new information category notice for a video However, the author is not a person’s name And this is something that’s very important to know when you’re citing a video or a webcast There may be a person that’s speaking in the video That is not the author in most of your course videos The author is going to be laureate education and then in parentheses You’re going to write producer because they are the author and the producer then you’re going to use this year the title of the video In italics because it’s a single video it will be in italics so again It’s very important to know that the speaker does not show up in the reference list because the speaker Knowing who the speaker is is not going to help me as a reader find and replicate that research I need to know who produced the video so that I can then track down that video and watch it and In my in-text citation the in-text citation would actually look like this with the laureate education comma and then the 2013 So the question is what if we want to cite a speaker in that video Like I said, you don’t use that speaker’s name in the reference list and you don’t use that speaker’s name in the in-text citation So, where do you put that speaker? If you want to talk about what they said You would actually do that in the text yourself and you want to make sure that you use contexts within the sentence so Here you have Zukerman and then in parenthesis your in-text citation laureate education incorporated 2013 advise students to read critically so here the action is being given to the speaker, which is true. The speaker is doing this But where did that information actually come from it came from this video produced by laureate education So it’s a little bit different there How you would use a speaker in the video?
