Yeah, hello! So you probably ended up in this video because you were looking into getting MP3 files out of iTunes especially for music files that you purchased through the iTunes store. And if we look at the files here, then you may have already figured out that these files are not in the MP3 format if we look at the right side, then they are in the M4A format. So how do we turn these into MP3s? It is pretty easy. You can actually do this with iTunes. It is just now as intuitive as it should be. So let us get started. First we go into the preferences in iTunes. And we go into the Generals tab and we look into “Import Settings…” And in here we change the import setting to using MP3 encoder Next we can select the quality. I am always going high, so the highest quality is good. And we accept this by clicking on ok. And now here I have this album, which I purchased through the iTunes store. And as an example I am going to select a couple of the songs. I select song number 8, 9 and 10. I want to convert these three files into MP3 files. And now I am going up to “Files” in the menubar and I am going to down here where it says “Convert” And here I am selecting “Create MP3 version” As soon as I select this you will see on top here iTunes is now working on converting these files into MP3 files. Now if we look at the finder window we see that song number 8 is already in the process of being converted. It does take a little while. iTunes is still working on this song. 34 seconds remaining. So let us speed this up a little but so we do not have to wait all this time. And now after you hear this little jingle which indicates that the conversion is complete then we can look in the list and we see that the songs exist two times now. They have the same numbers (8,9 and 10). They exist two times and one of them is the M4A version and one is the MP3 version But now if you have trouble finding the files on your hard drive in order to copy them for example onto your MP3-player then you just bring up the context menu Here you select “show in Finder” and it will bring you to the correct position. where the MP3 file is located. and now you just do whatever you want to do with them. Ok, this is already it. I hope this video was helpful.
