In this video I’m gonna help you build your
self-confidence. I’m gonna give you 10 strategies that you
can use to increase your self-confidence. What’s up, everybody? Tanvir Ahmed here. Welcome back to another video. And if you’re new here, you, my friend,
are freaking awesome. Having a healthy level of self-confidence
can help you become more successful in your personal and professional life. When you believe in yourself, you’re more
willing to try new things. Whether you apply for a promotion or sign
up for a cooking class, believing in yourself is key to putting yourself out there. Fortunately, you are watching this video. And I’m gonna give you 10 strategies that
will help you increase your self-confidence. Let’s get started. Number 1. Shift to an equality mentality. If you have low self-confidence, you probably
look at other people and think that they are better than you. But instead of carrying this perception, see
yourself as being equal to everyone else. If you are insecure, guess what? The rest of the world is too. Do not overestimate the competition and underestimate
yourself. You are better than you think. Number 2. Surround yourself with confident people. The drive to fit in is powerful indeed. So why not use that to our advantage? So, if you struggle to be confident, why not
hang around confident people? Not only will you start embodying the mindset
that helps them be confident, but you’ll start to latch on to the activities that enabled
them to get there, too. Number 3. Visualize yourself as you want to be. Let’s take public speaking as an example. So, in order to be more confident in your
public speaking skills. What you want to do is you wanna close your
eyes and visualize yourself on top of a stage giving a public speech. You wanna visualize yourself as a totally
confident badass. You’re so confident that you start freestyling
it. You start saying things that you didn’t
plan to say. And everyone is listening to you with their
full attention. You are literally at your peak confidence. Practice visualizing a fantastic version of
yourself, achieving your goals. Number 4. Question your inner critic. Some of the harshest comments that we get
come from ourselves, via the “voice of the inner critic.” And personally, I like to visualize this inner
critic as a monkey because I don’t like monkeys. You’ve been criticizing yourself for years,
and it hasn’t worked. Try approving yourself for a change and see
what happens. Number 5. Embrace Self-Doubt
Sometimes, people put off doing things until they feel more confident. (Oh, she’s so pretty! I wanna ask her out. I’ll do it when I’m feeling more confident.) (I think I deserve a promotion. I should apply for one. I’ll do it when I feel more confident.) But sometimes, the best way to gain confidence
is by doing. Practice facing some of your fears that come
from a lack of self-confidence. If you’re afraid you’ll embarrass yourself
or you’re afraid that you’re gonna mess it up, try it anyway. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t
prepare or practice. But don’t wait until you’re a 100 percent
confident. Chances are that’s never gonna happen. Number 6. Help someone else. You know what the problem is? You are just being too overprotective of yourself. You just need to let loose. And the best way to do that is by helping
someone else. Helping someone else often enables us to forget
about ourselves. Plus, as a bonus, it also feels good when
you’re able to make a difference for someone else. Instead of focusing on your own weaknesses,
volunteer to mentor, assist or teach someone else. And you’ll see your self-confidence grow automatically
in the process. Number 7. Care for yourself. Self-confidence depends on a combination of
good physical health, emotional health and social health. It is hard to feel good about yourself when
you hate your physique and constantly have low energy. So make self-care a priority. When you’re feeling at your best physically,
you’ll naturally feel more confident about yourself. Number 8. Practice Self-Compassion
OK. I want you to think of a really good friend
of yours. What would you say to this friend if he or
she experiences a setback, makes a mistake or fails? If they’re a good friend of yours, you’ll
probably treat them with compassion. So why is it that when we ourselves make a
mistake, we treat ourselves like we’re a failure? And treating yourself that way doesn’t even
motivate you to do any better. In fact, it has the opposite effect. Rather than beating yourself up or calling
yourself names, try talking to yourself like you’d talk to a trusted friend. Cut yourself some slack, laugh at yourself,
and remind yourself that no one is perfect. Treat yourself with compassion. Number 9. Fail your way to mastery. If you’re at sea, you need a compass to
tell you which direction to go to reach your destination. Similarly, if your destination is mastery
at something, you need a string of failures to point you in the right direction. Of course, nobody wants to fail. But failure leaves clues as to how to succeed. And success breeds confidence. The more often you fail, the more knowledge
you gather as to what works and what doesn’t. Each failure brings you closer to success. And last but not the least. Take the 100 days of rejection challenge. Purposely make crazy requests of people in
order to be rejected over a 100 days. The purpose of this challenge is to desensitize
yourself to rejection. Busting fear isn’t an easy thing to do,
but if you wanna have some fun while building up your self-confidence, this is a very powerful
way to do it. Here’s the thing, guys. Nobody is born with limitless self-confidence. If someone seems to have a lot of self-confidence,
it’s because he or she has worked on building that self-confidence for years. And I’m here to tell you that you can do
it too. Believe in yourself because I believe in you. That’s it for me, guys. I hope you guys liked this video. I hope you got something out of it. I hope you enjoyed it. Hit that like button if you did. Subscribble if you haven’t already. And I will see you in the next one.
